On March 5, AMEXIO, in collaboration with Microsoft hosted an Agent in a Day workshop at our office in Leuven. Business analysts, IT professionals, and process experts came together to learn how to build a working AI agent with Microsoft Copilot Studio.

What is the Agent in a Day workshop?
Agent in a Day is an official Microsoft program, offered through certified partners. The workshop guides participants step by step on how to build an AI agent in Copilot Studio. By the end of the day, everyone had a working agent up and running.
An AI agent goes beyond a traditional chatbot. While a chatbot responds to questions with pre-set answers, an AI agent can reason independently, perform actions, and interact with systems. This can include retrieving customer data, creating support tickets, or routing requests to the right employee, automatically and at scale.
AMEXIO is a certified Microsoft partner and organizes this workshop to provide organizations with accessible, hands-on experience with AI agents. We show what is possible in practice and which steps are needed to implement agents effectively and safely.
How we built an AI agent in one day with Copilot Studio
During the workshop, participants worked on a fictional case: Contoso Coffee, a company whose customer service could no longer keep up with growth. The task was simple: build an AI agent in four steps to support first-line customer service.
Participants completed four consecutive exercises, each slightly more challenging than the previous. The day began with building a simple agent in Copilot Chat. Then they progressed in Copilot Studio, extending the agent with knowledge, actions, and flows. In the final exercise, participants built an agent capable of performing tasks autonomously, all with the support of our experts.
Key takeaways from Agent in a Day
By the end of the day, every participant had built a working AI agent. But the insights they gained went far beyond having something that simply worked.
Participants left the workshop with:
- Practical experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio and the Copilot ecosystem
- Understanding of what AI agents can automate and where their limits lie
- Knowledge of out-of-the-box integrations and how to apply them to real use cases
